GM’s shift to becoming a fully zero-emission automaker has faced recent challenges. Production issues with EVs using its new Ultium battery technology, like the Lyriq, and the temporary halt in sales of the Chevrolet Blazer EV due to software problems have slowed progress. Additionally, delays in launching new electric models, due to lower-than-expected consumer demand, have added to the challenges.
However, amidst these issues, the Lyriq shines as a positive for GM. Despite a slow start in 2023, the company sold 9,154 Lyriq units last year, showing promising growth. This number, while not very high, exceeds the sales of GM’s other new EVs.

For example, sales of the Blazer EV, Hummer EV, and Silverado EV pickups were much lower, with only 482, 3,244, and 461 units sold, respectively. It’s important to note that GM’s best-selling electric vehicles were the older Bolt twins, which together achieved 62,045 sales. However, these models have been discontinued to make way for GM’s next-generation EV lineup. CLICK HERE
